Why do I need a dart mat?

A hard floor (concrete, stone or tile) can break and dull your dart tips, seriously affecting your game. With this in mind, we recommend investing in a heavy-duty mat from NPC Amusements! 

A rubber dart mat will protect the floor and the darts when they bounce out of the board, keeping them nice and sharp, ready to throw. This can be a real money saver, too — if your darts are well-protected, you won’t need to replace them so soon!

You’ll still need a dart mat if you have carpet flooring in your man cave. You’ll walk to and from the dartboard hundreds of times in a single game or thousands of times a week, depending on how often you play. This will wear down the carpet in a matter of months, so we recommend a rubber dart mat to help keep the carpet looking fresh and new. 

Finally, a dart mat can also mark the right distance between players and the dartboard. The official distance is 237cm (seven feet, 9.25 inches) from the front of the dartboard to the back of the Oche (i.e. the throw line). • How long are dart mats?
  
  If you’re playing by international rules, your dart mat should be 237cm in length (or seven feet and 9.25 inches), covering the space from the dartboard to the Oche (the throw line). However, we have dart mats available in a wide range of sizes to suit how you prefer to play.

• What are dart mats made of?
  
  Most dart mats are made of heavy-duty rubber, so your darts have a soft, bouncy landing after a bounce-out. We also have options with a carpet covering to match the look and feel of your man cave. • Do I need a dart mat for soft-tip darts?
  
  No, you don’t necessarily need a dart mat for soft-tip darts. These darts have replaceable plastic tips designed to be used with a soft-tip or electronic dartboard. We recommend a dart mat for those who prefer to play with traditional steel-tip darts so you can keep the tips nice and sharp.
• Do you accept returns?
